Tourism: Α key pilar of our national economy

Tourism is now becoming a key pillar of our national economy at a time when competitiveness in the euro area is a top priority. For this reason, the promotion of Greek tourism is an issue of great importance. It is very important the tourism product to have a strong brand in order to attract significant numbers of visitors.
This paper is very interesting because it deals with the brand and the promotion of the Corfu tourism product. It is obvious that while the island itself has significant comparative advantages such as the natural scenery, beaches, the culture and the history it hasn’t the appropriate promotion. The tour operators in the island due to failure of communication between them and because of the high cost of promoting adopt traditional techniques of promotion, such as flyers so they do not have the maximum possible results. It is understood that there is a need for modernization of the promotion of the island in order to achieve maximum attendance of tourists.
